Approval of the expenditure of Solid Waste and Recycling funds in the amount of $31,110 for the engine repair of unit 1096 utilizing Womack Diesel Services.

BACKGROUND / RATIONALE:
In September 2018, Unit 1096, a five-year-old vehicle, suffered a catastrophic engine failure while on its route. The unit was taken to Womack Diesel Services in Seguin and after disassembly and inspection it was determined that the engine could be rebuilt.
Per section 9.17 of the City Charter, City Council approval is required for purchases that exceed $25,000. The cost of the truck repair is $31,110, which exceeds the $25,000 threshold and therefore requires City Council approval.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost of this repair can be absorbed by the FY 2018-19 Solid Waste Fund Budget. Therefore, sufficient funds are available.
