SUBJECT:

Title

Approval of the second and final reading of an ordinance amending Chapter 126, Section 126-368(m), Water Recreation Zones; Time Limits, to expand the no loading or unloading of water-oriented recreation equipment zone to E. Mather Street and S. Washington Avenue.

Body

BACKGROUND / RATIONALE:

There is currently a no loading/unloading zone on both E. Lincoln and Cross River Streets from Union Avenue to Washington Avenue to prevent tubers from loading and unloading in front of the homes on that residential street.  However, that has pushed the activity to East Mather.  Several citizens informed staff of this issue at the public input meeting for the Comal River Improvement Project. This ordinance change would expand the existing zone that prohibits loading and unloading of water-oriented recreation equipment in this neighborhood to include both sides of E. Mather Street from S. Union Avenue to Washington Avenue, as well as extend the coverage on Washington Avenue up to the E. Mather Street.

There is a public loading/unloading zone on West Lincoln street with the other outfitter bus stops that can be used for this purpose.
