Body

BACKGROUND / RATIONALE:

In 2018 the City launched the Adopt-A-Spot River Clean-Up Program that provides an opportunity for residents, organizations and local businesses to adopt a location along a creek, river or other drainageway to keep free of litter by performing routine volunteer litter clean-ups. The City provides clean-up supplies such as trash bags, trash grabbers and gloves to participating entities. The program guidelines require participants to hold three clean-up events per year within their adopted location in addition to participating in the annual Dos Rios Watershed Clean-Up event. Participants are asked to submit online clean-up reports containing photos and volume of litter collected. The program currently has approximately 15 organizations enrolled, three of which completed the required program goals (3 clean-ups plus attendance at Dos Rios Clean-Up). These organizations include Trihydro Corporation, Rockin R River Rides and River City Advocacy & Counseling Center.
