Approval of the renewal of a contract with PM AM Corporation to provide alarm management services for the Police Department.

BACKGROUND / RATIONALE:

The City has established a standard of management services with PM AM Corporation since 2013. This service assists with the operation of the False Alarm Reduction Program for the Police Department. It includes a false alarm management solution to provide an interface to upload data from the New Braunfels Police Department, computer-aided dispatch system and GIS, and billing and payment collection services in accordance with the rates established by the City’s alarm ordinance. The current contract has been extended through May 31, 2019, with the new contract to begin June 1, 2019. The revenue sharing percentages will remain at 20 percent to the service provider and 80 percent of the revenue to the City of New Braunfels from collections received on alarm violations and permit fees. 

 

This contract generates revenue for the City with no expenses incurred by the City. The City received approximately $137,000 in 2018/19. To date, the City has received $746,048 in revenues through this contracted service. The base contract term shall be for three (3) years, with two (2) additional one-year renewal periods.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There are no direct expenditures expected with the approval of this revenue generating contract. As mentioned above, the vendor retains 20 percent of the reveues from these services.
