Approval of a contract with Flash Demolition for asbestos abatement and demolition of the existing church adjacent to the Westside Community Center as part of the 2019 Bond Westside Library Branch Project.

BACKGROUND / RATIONALE:
To support the Westside Library Branch project, the church adjacent to the existing community center must be demolished. The City requested proposals for the abatement of asbestos and demolition of the existing church at 2932 IH-35 South. Three proposals were received. Flash Demolition was the lowest cost proposal.
The demolition contract which includes asbestos abatement, air monitoring, and demolition is $50,895. Including a ten percent contingency, the contract will not exceed $56,000.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The Westside Library Branch Project, a component of the 2019 bond program includes funding for demolition. Therefore, sufficient funds are available to award the contract as described above.
