BACKGROUND / RATIONALE:
The City utilizes Strategic Government Resources Inc. (SGR) for specialized executive recruitment and temporary placement. The City has issued a contract with SGR for the interim Police Chief to perform related duties for the City.
The initial contract was issued on October 9, 2020 with a contract estimation of $25,000 and the candidate was sworn in on October 12, 2020 by City Council. Staff is requesting an approval for an additional expenditure of $40,000 which will provide a total contract amount of $65,000 to provide interim support for approximately 4 months. The hired candidate was selected based on professional qualifications and has an exclusivity agreement with SGR and therefor this is a sole source contract.

FISCAL IMPACT:
While this expenditure was unbudgeted, vacancy savings will be generated while utilizing this contract position. Any costs up and above the vacancy savings generated will be absorbed by the Police Department’s FY 2020 operating budget. Therefore, sufficient funds are available.
