BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The Unified Development Code (UDC) will be developed with broad, diverse, community-wide public engagement. This will ensure our residents’ passion to maintain and continuously improve our quality of life, that was captured in Envision New Braunfels, is implemented through the built environment. As a highly detailed, technical code, a Citizens Advisory Committee, made up of industry experts and board/commission appointees, will review drafts, provide technical recommendations, suggest edits, etc. throughout the process.

ISSUE:

The boards/commissions recommended to be represented on the UDC Citizens Advisory Committee include:

                     Zoning Board of Adjustment

                     Planning Commission

                     Historic Landmark Commission

                     Workforce Housing Advisory Committee

Each noted board or commission would make one appointment each at their next regularly scheduled meetings, respectively.

Additionally, various stakeholders representing key industries who work with the development-related ordinances regularly, can also lend their technical expertise. One representative from each of the following industries are recommended to also be included on the Committee:
