1.                     Park Development Updates

See attached presentation.

 

2.                     Mission Hill Park

An Open House for Mission Hill Park is set for Saturday, September 17, 8-11 am. We will have guided tours of the property provided by volunteers from the Comal County Historic Commission.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3.                     Kerlick Park

A walking path extension and new bench swing have been installed at Kerlick Park.

 

 

4.                     Veteran’s Memorial

The Veteran’s Memorial is substantially complete. A ribbon cutting was held August 18 at 2:00 pm. Memorial bricks are now for sale at the parks office. Bricks are $150 each. Proceeds from the sale of bricks will be kept in a Veteran’s Memorial Fund.

 

 

 

5.                     Bond Projects

The park bond project Open House was held on August 3rd with very good attendance. Particularly, revisions to the Landa Park Circulation project were well received.

 

Cost estimates for all proposed projects are due at the end of September. The next Bond Advisory Committee meeting is set for October 3, 6pm.

 

6.                     Alligator Creek Trail - West

The final design is still underway and costs have been submitted to the City for review.

 

7.                     Dry Comal Creek Greenway Trail Update

Surveying has wrapped up and the consultant has begun design and alignment a plan sheet will be submitted to the city for review this week. Subconsultant and staff has begun the design and wayfinding standards based on feedback from stakeholders and the city.

 

8.                     Per Your Park Contest - Fischer Park Nature Playspace

Plans are complete in for the nature play space. Expected construction to begin in November. Total cost for the project is $144,473. The grant for $90,000 supports the design, playground and construction, New Braunfels Parks Foundation approved a $17,822 request, and $1,500 of tree donations to Fischer Park will also support this project. To cover the gap staff is requesting the use of $31,151 of park development funds (PPD 3) to support the project.
