COUNCIL DISTRICTS IMPACTED: N/A
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
While the City’s Information Technology Department implements commonly accepted technology security principles and practices, it is also good practice to have our network, applications, programs and general Cyber Security culture assessed, tested and reported on. This contract provides for 5 areas of testing and assessment, including external and internal penetration testing. Presidio will then deliver the findings, which will include suggested remediation steps and outline ways to improve our overall technology security posture and culture.
This contract is in the amount of $71,610. The City is contracting with Presidio utilizing a State of Texas DIR contract and therefore meets all State of Texas purchasing requirements.
ISSUE:
The Information Technology Department, as do all similar departments, faces new challenges and threats to our network, data, applications and ability to conduct business each and every day from outside threats. These threats, which are ever changing and evolving, must be met on a continual basis. An outside assessment of our vulnerabilities, areas for improvement and the associated recommendations will help assure the entire organization of the safety and security of our data, network and applications.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for these costs have been incorporated into the Information Technology FY 2022 and FY 2023 department budget. Therefore, sufficient funds are available to approve the purchase as described above.
