BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Due to manufacturing delays, staff have been searching for existing stock from our suppliers to support the need for replacement vehicles needed for the Solid Waste fleet. The Solid Waste division has an existing stock of hybrid sideload vehicles that are scheduled for replacement over the next two years leaving one that is being recommended for replacement. Due to lack of accessibility of parts and equipment for these hybrid vehicles, maintenance is typically prolonged, which continually impacts operations.
In a recent audit of vehicles, it was discovered that a collection vehicle not previously identified is eligible for replacement. Staff has located a Dennis Eagle chassis with a Neway automated sideload body as a replacement that is available for immediate delivery. The vehicle is available from Scranton Manufacturing Company, Inc. through a Sourcewell cooperative contract at a price of $358,350. The replacement vehicle will be declared as surplus and sold.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost for the vehicle contract described above will be funded from the FY 2022 Enterprise Equipment Replacement Fund. Capacity within this fund was made possible from the delay or rollover of vehicle purchases that were originally budgeted in FY 2022 but will not be delivered until FY 2023. This vehicle is expected to be received before the end of FY 2022. Therefore, sufficient funds are available to purchase the referenced vehicle.
