BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The Solid Waste Division purchases an average of two full loads of each residential refuse and recycling containers on an annual basis. Additionally, replacements lids are regularly ordered for repairs and to support the residential extra container program. Schaefer Plastics has a superior product that is more durable, more cost-effective and has lids that can be molded with programmatic information.
Staff are recommending the purchase of the Schaefer containers and lids utilizing an HGAC Cooperative contract, thereby satisfying the competitive procurement requirement. The total cost for the containers will be $102,524.
ISSUE:
Replenish supply of residential refuse and recycling containers and lids.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The expected expenditure for this equipment was incorporated into the FY24 Solid Waste budget which has the capacity to support this expenditure.

RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the approval of an expenditure of $102,524.18 with Schaefer Plastics North America, LLC for the purchase of residential refuse and recycling containers and lids.
