BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
On June 6th, 2023, Council approved a budget amendment totaling $450,000 for the purchase of an ambulance and associated equipment during FY 2023. The ambulance was purchased, but when received it was ineffective. All of the accompanying equipment was purchased and was effective. The ambulance was returned for a full reimbursement during FY 2023. Unfortunately, due to a prolonged timeline, the purchase of the replacement ambulance was not able to be completed during FY 2023. Therefore, the Fire Department is seeking a budget amendment in order to complete the ambulance purchase during FY 2024.
Previously Provided Background:
The fire department has requested a new ambulance which will raise the fleet size to ten. This will allow seven front line units when Fire Station 7 opens as well as three reserve/stand-by units.
Budget Amendment - General Fund - The following budget amendment is necessary for capital expenditures related to the above referenced vehicle purchase. The cost of the ambulance is $370,000.
Increase: Capital Expenditures - Fire Operations $370,000
FISCAL IMPACT:
With the budget amendment, sufficient allocation would be available in the Fire Operations Capital budget for the purchase. There are sufficient surplus reserves in the General Fund to support the amendment.
