BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The Downtown Parking Committee was established in April 2023 at a Downtown Board regular meeting. The committee’s goal is to address the complex issue of parking demand, supply, and convenience downtown. The committee has met several times and has proposed the following recommendations:
- Initiate paid parking in the same areas that are included in the current Two Hour Parking Ordinance
- Expand enforcement to Monday through Sunday
- Expand enforcement to 10am to 10pm
- Offer the first hour of parking at no charge
- Charge for parking at $2.00 per hour, with a $10 maximum per day
- Parking revenue will fund enforcement and future parking improvements in Downtown
- Support the expansion of the Downtown Parking Exception Map
ISSUE:
The Downtown Parking Committee has offered recommendations to the Downtown Board. If the Downtown Board chooses to approve all or some of the recommendations, each approved recommendation will move forward to City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Parking revenue, if approved, will be used to fund enforcement, management, and future parking improvements.

The Downtown Board approve the recommendations of the Downtown Parking Committee
