BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
On January 19, 2023, the New Braunfels Economic Development Corporation (NBEDC) unanimously approved a project expenditure to Texas State Technical College (TSTC) in an amount up to $1,000,000 for the purchase of equipment for the Lone Star Chapter’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology Program to initiate the Texas Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (TX FAME) program in the Fall of 2023. The New Braunfels City Council unanimously approved this expenditure on February 13, 2023.
As a startup program at the Central Texas Technology Center (CTTC), initial costs to support this program ranged from $2.2 to $2.5 million. The expenditure from the NBEDC was matched by the Seguin Economic Development Corporation and other program-related funding was secured by CMC Steel Texas, GVEC, and The Caterpillar Foundation.
The second semester of the TX FAME program is underway at the CTTC. Representatives from TSTC will provide an update on the program, enrollment, and future plans, as well as discuss some additional equipment that will be purchased under the previous funding authorization for the program.
